I've analysed my games from Day 1 of the Masters using Quackle, and the
results are surprising. If I exclude an awful first game, which
included two phonies, my average equity loss on the other seven games
is just 39, far lower than I normally achieved when I analysed games
using Maven. Even if I include the first game the average equity loss
is still under 50. I was expecting my average equity loss at the
Masters to be very high - lots of new words I don't know, combined with
acute ring-rustiness.
Has any comparison been made between Maven and Quackle? Are average
equity losses lower using Quackle, or did I play unusually well? :-)
Apart from an error involving a phony hook in game 1 I missed no
bonuses on Day 1, which obviously helps. However if anything I would
have expected equity loss to be higher using Quackle, because it spots
moves that I'm pretty sure Maven never would have done. Consider the
following board. What move do you think simulates best, by some
distance? It never crossed my mind, and I suspect it wouldn't have
appeared in Maven's kibitzer, which means that I wouldn't have accrued
such a high equity loss on this move using Maven.
