Jason, O'Laugh and all--
Yesterday I found Quackle severely lacking in the near endgame in my
opinion. Using the 20-second version, with a lead of some 80 points I drew the
Q. A blank and S were still out, and there were either 15 or 16 tiles unseen.
The place for QAT blocked the only lane for 8's, ending in E, and there were no
opportunities for 7's.
I don't remember if I asked Championship player, but the choices
generated did not mention QAT. I played it anyhow, and Quackle added OW to an
R, creating an S-spot. I made a 34-pt. play with 3 or 4 tiles (it was a
4-letter word), emptying the bag, and Quackle bingoed out, to lose by about 15
pts.
I did not analyze the position to see if the choices Quackle gave me
would allow me to win, but it's conceivable that Quackle could have bingoed off
that E and I would have been stuck with the Q. I did what any experienced
player woukl do and won. Is this something in Quackle that needs to be mended?
