Go to the Settings tab. Not the Settings menu, but the tab, next to the "History" and "Choices" tab. Click "Add Board", and away you go. I believe the thing you were looking at was the Settings menu, which has a different list of settings.
Also, make sure your dictionary and alphabet are correctly set in the Settings tab.
