Despite what some people may think, I use my critical thinking skills
instead of regurgitating party policies.
In our "Republic" (something I'm a strong believer in), we need to be
active in making sure our Representatives are aware of our views. If
they do not represent us, then we hope the next one we vote for does.
I'm for bringing back the "Bull Moose" party. Teddy really was a great
President who brought about the whole National Park system. As
a "hunter" he recognized the need for providing habitat to protect our
natural resources. Thanks to his visions, the Buffalo, wolves, and many
other species have been brought back from a close brush with
extinction. The dollars generated by hunting and fishing licenses have
paid for much of the land in the national forrest and parks. Despite
what some people think, our deer and elk populations are so high that
in many areas they are adding more hunting tags, longer hunting
seasons, and cutting back on some of the preserve ares (which are no
hunting zones). If it were not for hunters more animals would die of
disease, starvation, and vehicle accidents. Taxpayers would be required
to pick up the tab for the hundreds of millions of dollars presently
generated by the licenses.
Now it is this kind of forward thinking we need to bring back to
government. How to devise programs that pay for themselves in some form.
A fine example; student funding programs that require the student to
perform their internship serving the community. Alaska has been very
successful using this type of scholorship incentive.
How about monitary incentives for helping Quads live in their own homes
who provide living space for medical students in exchange for some
light housework, fixing a meal, being there at night in case of needing
something etc?
So Tony... U for wheeling lightly and carrying a big stick?
