Hi River,
I was sitting in Psych class one day in '78 when I started feeling bad. By the time the class ended I was sweating, blood pressure up, with a pounding head. All the classic AD signs, so I stopped my sister between classes and had her take me home. By the time I got home the pain was pretty intense and we started my cath change fast. When the Foley came out a pea sized stone came out too. It was pretty painful but eased as soon as the stone passed. To my knowledge that was my only stone.
Urolithiasis is a disease caused by the presence and effects of uroliths (stones) or calculi or excessive amounts of crystals in the urinary tract. The disease is referred to by many names, including cystitis, urethritis, urinary calculi, bladder stones, or kidney stones. In humans, these stones and crystals can form anywhere in the urinary tract, including the kidney, urethra, or most commonly, the bladder. These crystals or stones irritate the lining of the urinary tract, causing changes in the lining, blood in the urine, and often pain. In some cases the crystals or stones will block or partially block the flow of urine, making urination painful or impossible.
There are ways to diagnose and treat them without surgery if they aren't too big.
Remember, the gall-bladder can also get stones in it.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
Apparently, I passed a kidney stone yesterday. I was in severe pain,
didn't know why but had blood in urine the day before, then it was
fine. Has anyone ever passed a kidney stone? Did you change your
diet? Do you still have them?
It's so hard not being able to describe the pain I have to a Dr. As I
have no sensation AT ALL except some pins and needles nerve pain all of
the time, describing my pain is so hard.
Anyone else have these problem?
