I'm glad that you went ahead and introduced yourself to the list.  I know it's not easy for you.  Stephen is a lucky boy to have such a concerned Mom looking up resources that will help him.  Like I told you the other day, there are a lot of caring people here and have a world of information to share. One thing your son and I have in common is the time of year the paralysis happened to us.  It happened Memorial Day weekend for me as well.

It's great that his friends are there for him and it will defiantly help with his recovery to have them around. They obviously care about Stephen so you discussing the fact that he needs a schedule with them, they will understand.  It's going to be frustrating for your son to keep a schedule. I'm sure most everyone here can agree it's a pain in the butt being on a schedule, but it is very important.

The neuro psychologist at the rehab center explained to me about the mourning period when something this dramatic happens to you.  I wouldn't be surprised if Stephen went through the phases as well.  He could get depressed or even angry and this will put stress on you as well. You may feel like you cant help him at times, but just bare with it.  I wasn't even living with my parents, but I found myself getting pretty upset with them when they were trying to do things for me.  I still get depressed, but I get through it.

There are so many resources for Stephen out there when he is ready to go to college and start driving and when the time comes and you are ready for the information, there are many people here that can give it to you.  If you have questions about care, equipment, or just about anything else someone can direct you to the right source whether it be a place you can call or a web page you can look up.

Again, welcome to the list and I hope you enjoy it here.  Like I told you before, many people here are friends.  You may see some arguments when a topic comes up, but it always blows over with time and everyone can go back to buddies again.  Please do not get discouraged when your mail box gets filled up quickly because it will happen.
