Nearly all the ancient people talked about in the Bible (except for the Egyptians) were from present day Iraq - including Abraham and the Israelites. Abe was from Ur, a city near ancient Babylon. Historians have several names for the region: Mesopatamia, land between the rivers, fertile crescent, cradle of civilization. If there really was a garden of Eden it was probably in Iraq. The very first civilization, the Sumerians, arose there.
