Because going to war is a last resort when diplomacy fails. It had between Iraq and the UN because certain countries were being bribed by Saddam. The situation in Iraq and Saddam had been going on since at least 1991 when he invaded Kuwait, an ally and sovereign nation. Iraq was shooting at our planes who were enforcing the UN sanctions. The terms of the 1991 cease fire were not being met.

You ask where is the USA? Diplomatic discussion are ongoing with North Korea. So you would be invading North Korea today if it were up to you because
Kim Jong-il has wmd's and is a bigger prick? You would send American soldiers into North Korea, which has one of the largest armies in the world?

I don't buy your "we did it for oil", "Bush did it for revenge", "inside deal" conspiracy theories.

In a way you are correct in your assertion. If I was in George W. Bush's shoes and decided to send American troops to invade Iraq then there definitely would have been WMDs found, even if I had to get the CIA to put them there.

If there was any credible evidence whatsoever of an active weapons program, wouldn't the Bush Administration have brought it to the public's attention?

If they did would you belive it or think it was fabricated?

It's a big country with a lot of sand and underground tunnels. Just because we haven't found it doesn't mean it never existed. Maybe I spend too much time watching the programs on the Discovery Times & History channels. After seeing the fighter planes buried in the sand, I can't help but wonder what else might be.
