This is a perfect example of discrimination by association IF
the building is incorrectly built or modified. IF
they are out of compliance, you can tell them:
"Your door handles are required to be X-inches high with Y-inches of clear floor space on the handle side of the door. If you can't or won't modify this, my mother is being discriminated against by association because her daughter can't visit her without unusual difficulties. I, one of your patient's daughters, is being directly discriminated against due to building code deficiencies. We can fix this without much fuss, OR I can file charges with the state Attorney General."
(And that brings up the issue of why, after 14 years, they are still out of compliance... or continuing to build out of compliance.... but I don't have time to go into that right now.)
Most importantly, though... I hope all is well and continues to go well with your mom!
Best wishes!

May do something else this time. It will take letter writing
this time.
Little by little.
