Where are you reading this from?
Do you remember Al French?
A senior deputy district attorney signed a sworn affidavit stating "Kerry has wildly exaggerated and lied about his record in Vietnam," and then in an Oregon newspaper he said "I was not a witness to these events but my friends were,"
I found some other interesting notes like what those same 13 same people had to say about his military carreer before he was running and after if you would like to read it's very funny!
I really insist on you reading this one because it talks about the battle damage and bullet holes in his boat assessd by no other than Thurlow the other Bronze Star recipient that said there was no enemy fire that day yet in his report he assessed 3 bullet holes and a slew of battle damage from a mine. So read what they said the next day instead of the lies 30 years later.
THEN AND NOW....I've mentioned before that one of the reasons you shouldn't trust the SwiftVets group is that until recently a lot of them said nice things about John Kerry and then suddenly refreshed their memories early this year. Some of those nice things were said to reporters during the past few years, some were said in official reports 36 years ago, while in other cases official documents directly contradict what they're saying today.
This probably isn't a complete list, but here's a quick recap of why nobody with a brain should trust a word they say:
Roy Hoffman, today: "John Kerry has not been honest." Roy Hoffman, 2003: "I am not going to say anything negative about him he's a good man."
Adrian Lonsdale, today: "He lacks the capacity to lead." Adrian Lonsdale, 1996: "He was among the finest of those Swift boat drivers."
George Elliot, today: "John Kerry has not been honest about what happened in Vietnam." George Elliot, 1996: "The fact that he chased an armed enemy down is something not to be looked down upon, but it was an act of courage."
Larry Thurlow, today: "...there was no hostile enemy fire directed at my boat or at any of the five boats operating on the river that day." Larry Thurlow's Bronze Star citation, 1969: "...all units began receiving enemy small arms and automatic weapons fire from the river banks."
Dr. Louis Letson, today: "I know John Kerry is lying about his first Purple Heart because I treated him for that injury." Medical records, 1968: "Dr. Letson's name does not appear on any of the medical records for Mr. Kerry. Under 'person administering treatment' for the injury, the form is signed by a medic, J. C. Carreon, who died several years ago."
Grant Hibbard, today: "He betrayed all his shipmates. He lied before the Senate." Hibbard's evaluation of Kerry, 1968: "Mr. Hibbard gave Mr. Kerry the highest rating of 'one of the top few' in three categoriesinitiative, cooperation and personal behavior. He gave Mr. Kerry the second-best rating, 'above the majority,' in military bearing."
They were either lying then or they're lying now. Take your pick. But either way, since there's no documentary evidence to back up their stories, the only thing going for them is their own personal credibility.
And that seems pretty thin, doesn't it

Mark, Rassmann was not a regular on a swiftboat, he was there for one day, kerry's boat gunned the engines to get out of the situation when the other boat hit a mine, as in the heat of the moment it was not known if it had been a mine or what by those on his boat. Rassmann's version didn't match that. Why? He was out of his element and the cause of his ending up suddenly in the water had once been reported by him as kerry's boat hitting a second mine (which would have caused damage to the boat). Now do I know if kerry had told him that they had hit a mine? No. But Kerry has now admitted that it was his boat that left and returned while the other boats rescued the crewmen from the boat that hit the mine. Like his "seared into his memory Christmas in Cambodia", kerry had a knack for embellishment. It was wierd the way he would re-enact battles he never fought for the camera he brought with him. Like I keep saying, kerry could clear up a lot of this controversy if he'd just release all his records. I have no doubt the Rassmann is an honorable man, I believe he just told his version from his perspective, which was flying out of a boat, coming up to the surface and hearing gunfire and seeing tracers he dove back down, coming back up (who knows how many times he dove back down) to find kerrys boat (which wasn't there the first time he surfaced) and kerry helping him into the boat.
Funny that the media only focused on some of those questionable accounts by the swifties, ignoring the gapping holes in kerry's which after found were ignored. Like which boat fled, where was the damage to all the boats sitting like ducks in a barrel? Why didn't ANYONE have at least a bullet wound? The official records quoted by the media were not the battle field reports, those would require kerrys signiture to be released as he wrote them and they are part of his military records. Stuntman
> Amazing you actually put the blame of Rassmann falling out of the boat on > Kerry! > It's also funny how this statement is pretty precise in detail but in an > earlier post > you said peoples memory are probably fuzzy as to the incident, so you can't > have it > both ways because if the incident was that clear to whoever you read this > from I would > think Rassmann's memory would be more credible being it was his life on the > line, kind of like the accident that left me a quad I can recall every bit > of it in fine detail much like you probably could. > I didn't get this info off of Kerry's web site either. > This group has been discredited so many times by themselves it's pitiful we > even have > to argue how corrupt they are.
