I have a Pride Jazzy 1121 and I love it!!!! But this is my first power chair.

Now I'm gonna rant for a minute. After having this chair for a while I am wondering why why why paras (especially high paras I'm a t-4) are encouraged to not get a power chair ?

This chair has changed my life. Even when I was younger and more capeable, I definitely could have used a power chair. I can go on grass, have been places in this chair I've NEVER BEEN in my own yard. I can actually carry things while moving !!! and both of these things may seem like little things but the ability to do them has drastically changed my mood when I'm in this chair. I feel so much less disabled in this chair , easier to move around, no having to brake everytime I stop to do something, the ability to hold the grocery basket in my lap when at the store, go up steep inclines without hurting my hands and wrists. I'm not even mentioning that having a power chair would greatly have decreased my repetitive stress injuries, tendonitis in elbow and shoulders and persistent back pain. Before this chair I was a staunch believer in "if you can push, dammit push and don't be lazy" I've definitely changed my mind. Why doesn't the medical community? Of course we all know the answer to that question...$$$$$$

Stepping off soap box now ;-)

I believe that everyone being evaluated for a chair... for any reason should
be able to try both for a couple of hours before they decide on rear wheel or
mid wheel chair. One's life styles is another option to consider. Rear
wheels work well in some areas better than others. Driving from a Mid-wheel chair
may not be as easy because of the securement that is necessary to hold the
chair safely. Most of the Mid-wheels are coming from China with America labels
and instructions being added. Try and find an owner's manual in another
language is most difficult. I've tried both Pride, Bruno and Invacare who advised
me that English manuals are the only ones available.

I thought I'd hate mid-wheel and test drove one for 2 weeks and couldn't

stand my rear wheel drive when my test drive was over so you're right no big

deal at all changing over and in my opinion well worth it. >>
