I think you must be cross-posting messages. I never received this
message or a couple others you've replied to. It's hard for us to help
this person if they aren't actually on the quad-list. I'm guessing

I joined to learn more about what my friend is facing and how I can
continue to be a supportive, good friend to him. Like with any of
life's painful events, I suspect that well-meaning family and friends
might do all sorts of things that make *them* feel better but not
necessarily you. I want to avoid saying or doing stupid stuff and be
genuinely helpful.

Welcome to
the group! I'm Smurf, 20 years old from the UK. I'm a paraplegic after
a car accident and a fall. The main thing that I wanted to say to you
is that your being a really good friend already, and that's by you
finding out how to help him. Right now more than anything his going to
need a good friend - someone to take his frustrations out on, someone
to support him, someone to see him and not his injury. This board is
full of fantastic people of all different ages, injury times and
different injuries full stop. There's also some people who have
relatives with SCIs. Hope you settle in soon!
