I too feel the firing was unjustified, but and the big but is, all football, baseball, basketball coaches serve at the leisure of those who are paying their salaries/contracts. In this case, Notre Dame University. Even though he will no longer be their coach, his contract requires payment for the next two years. Who could argue with that. Outside of that, the coach being as good as he is, will find employment elsewhere. I never thought of it as a racial case, just another executive administration blunder for which Notre Dame will end up paying for. And that happens in Universities all over the USA. W
