I hate these body changes (or aging...lol).
Sediment began 10 yrs post. Tried everything from Clorpactin
to vinegar irrigating to acidic drinks, cran capsules ... ad
nauseum. Lived with that till 1998 when it got better for NON
APPARENT reason.
BUT THAT stopped and continuous UTIs began. Rather have
sediment & no UTI.
Sediment returned 3 months ago. ugh!
I was 99 lbs after my 15 months in the hospital post injury but
still had a belly. I began wearing girdle or support panel
underwear and jeans. I gained as the yrs went by and wore
tighter girdles - no skin problems. Then I began to use binder
about 6 yrs ago. I need it for breathing while sitting up
too.
Now, in 3 yrs I've had 2 bad wounds but neither started out
from pressure. I'm still battling one in the butt/thigh
crease. The wound is ok but the area around it is
cranky. Red or rashy or seepy... depending on what IT feels
like doing.
And I just found out I have a UTI (Proteus - big one) so am on
a new antibiodic (new for me).
Life has been a drag here for 6 months. It's a battle to
keep up.

[QUAD-L] BODY CHANGING 6 YRS POST
You could try an abdominal
binder. If you
like.

CHANGING 6 YRS POST
I am almost 10 years post injury and it seems some things change
continuously. I did experience problems with my catheter and
occasionally still have problems with it clogging up for some
unknown reason. Going five years without a bowel incident is pretty
darn good. I could say that I went a long also, but every incident I
have had has usually been the result of my bowel regimen not being
completed properly. Over the last few years I have noticed that
despite being only a couple of pounds heavier I am having more and
more difficulty trying to prevent (what I now believe to be the
inevitable) Quad gut. Just when I think I have about everything
figured out, something changes and I am learning all over again. On
the brighter side, maybe this prevents boredom.
