Keep reading, I get to the Invacare (in a way)

Yikes Greg!  Not being where you "got the chair from" is crucial.  I'm due for a new one but am 95% positive we're moving out of Tucson so I'm waiting.

ANYONE who gets a new chair is uncomfortable for months & it seems numerous adjustments need to be made until ya get to comfortdom.

While I'm here in this town ... recently my 'tilt feature' stopped working.  And I needed a new cushion.  At least I'm in a "city" so I can shop around for service and/or parts.  But in the land of manana' (Mexican for "tomorrow") I'm lucky to get anything done anywhere near on time.

With dis-interest in my business by 2 vendors, I finally found one more workable (came to my home to pressure map me, show me cushions & let me try them for weeks first, friendly on phone, etc).

The rehab guy there (for my cushion) is cool .. came out, friendly, etc.  The parts & service guy has the personality of a wet rag and lied to us on the phone (long story).  The former was in no way pressuring me but he knows I'm eligible for a new chair.  He said he didn't care where I got the chair but told me what to look for.

He kept referring to Invacare chairs and THEY are the way to go according to him.  As far as service, ease to work on, etc.  Everyone is different and Invacare isn't for everyone.  I'm guessing these dudes they have a good comradarie or paybacks from Invacare to suggest it over ALL others.

Always wondering what their agenda or motive is.

Did I answer your question?  No!  But didya HAVE to move before you had a chance to try out any new chair?

With it being a new chair, though, INVACARE should live up to its word on personal comfort.  In other words, INVACARE should pay for a vendor to come adjust, add, and replace parts.  I'd call INVACARE with your dilemma.  Speak to the highest guru you can get to.  Their reputation is on the line.

I MAY get an INVACARE... wo knows yet.  But you can tell them you correspond with 100s of quads & paras worldwide and telling US what THEY *won't do* for a new customer can put a dent in their sales.  A bluff.. but why not!  YOU ARE (ACTUALLY *WE ALL* ARE) CONSUMERS of disability products.  Without us... they don't survive.  Revolution time!  :-)

I'm piecing parts until we move where we'll stay awhile.  It's the circuit board that is the problem.  MediCARE will pay some (since Medicare purchased the chair) if not all.  Until then the company switched my recline button (that I don't use) over to my tilt button since I RELY on that every few minutes.

I'm dreading the "new chair comfort" syndrome when the time comes.

Subject: [QUAD-L] New Chair

Anyone have a Invacare TDX3.
My insurance rain out because I moved out of state. But just before it ended I bought a new chair. Bcause I had left I had to buy it then after it was ordered I had to get it shipped down to me. It was risky because once I got it I couldn't do any modifying to adjust the fitting.
Well, I just got it and it doesn't fit well. The back is to short and the electric legrests stick out to far and don't look to be adjustable.
So I have a new chair that is not comfortable. If I want to get a taller back, I'll have to pay myself. Or pay to ship it back to the place I bought it.
Hmmm
Anyone have electric leg rests on the TDX3? Can the lowest it goes down be adjusted? Not for longer legs, but so they come in closer to the chair when hitting the button.
Thanks
Greg
