Being an avid off roader and building a couple full-size four-wheel-drive
trucks with suspension lifts, I also was not too enthused when I found out they
had to raise the body of my van 3" to accommodate the 8" lowered floor.
However, raising the body does not affect the steering geometry at all because
the drivetrain and steering stays at factory specifications. On the Ford
vans, the maximum drop floor is 6". The only other option I had to drive
was to get a minivan with a 8"-10" dropped floor which, all the so-called
experts did not recommend for various reasons especially my size. After we
received a 12" snowfall last week I'm glad I have my full-size van with its
limited slip differential and high ground clearance.
