Although I handle the heat better than most quadriplegics, I am still not able to handle being in direct sunlight for extended periods of time if the temperature is too high. However, I have found the air conditioner is one of the best inventions ever made. It allows me to go from my air-conditioned house to my air-conditioned van and then to any other air-conditioned building. During the rough part of the summer I tend to spend only about 15 to 20 minutes outside at a time. I am able to sit out for extended periods of time if I am not in the direct sunlight. You are much braver than I am living up there. When he gets below 70 I start to get severe pain in my neck. It doesn't seem to matter how warm I keep the house, it has something to do with atmospheric pressures I guess.

Lori,I would be able to handle the 70 degrees and low 80s with no trouble at all but once the temperatures hit 90 and above I start to have troubles. The hot weather for me is like some on the quad list trying to deal with the cold weather that I deal with.My lift normally moves pretty slow the first thing in the morning when the temperatures are below zero but this morning with the temperature at -34 it did not want to move that all. Waiting for the lift can be a pain but there's not much we can do about that.Jim
