I must be having some difficulty today. I reply to the e-mail without putting in my reply. How stupid can then be?

Alice,
I have been injured for almost 10 years and have been sleeping on my back for more than nine years. I sleep on a six-inch foam mattress with a rotational lateral overlay. I have it set to rotate me every 15 minutes and I have been very successful in avoiding any type of skin ulcers thus far. I would start by calling the medical supply Co. in your local area and trying to get assistance from them in providing you with an adequate mattress. If for some reason you are having difficulty obtaining something like this, you could go to a memory foam overlay for around $115. I tried one on my mattress and it was so comfortable I couldn't believe it. During the recent hurricanes here in Florida I had to pull out the memory foam and went to a six-hour turning schedule. I had no problem and the foam was so comfortable I didn't have any difficulties with spasms. The cheapest place I have found to purchase the memory foam is at:

As far as catheterization, I found the suprapubic to be the answer I needed. There are drawbacks, but for me it led to more freedom in my social life and the ability to be the most independent person I can be.

I am hoping someone here can offer some advice. The nephew of a friend is a C-4, injured July 2004. He came home this fall. They cath him every 6 hrs, and turn him every 2 hrs. He's 25. His mother is doing most of the care. The do have an aid for daytime help, but can only get 6 hours per week for night coverage. Family is trying to help with nights, but they are all still getting pretty beat. (Especially the Mom)I'm wondering if anyone can give any advice on options to the turning every 2 hours. His care is their main concern, so they will sacrifice anything. Just wondering about rotating beds, roho mattresses, etc. But don't want to compromise his care. Also, can you tell me what kind of funds there are to cover the cost of these. He is opposed to doing anything different than being cathed every 6 hours. (Not real sure why.)ANY advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
