Thanks,

I haven't given up but it is very frustrating.

Thanks a lot for the information.

Dillon,

I forgot to address your question about how I improved my social life. I don't know if many of the solutions I have found would work in your particular situation. I have no one living with me, despite my high level of injury, and this facilitates a much more active private life -- if I so desire to have one. I would be lying if I said that I was not experiencing any frustrations. Currently I am waiting on my ex-wife to visit in late March and I do not therefore actively seek any long-lasting relationship with women. I am hoping my relationship with my ex will proceed to the point where she is willing to move to the United States (she currently lives in Germany). She has indicated her willingness, but I'm still waiting on her to take the plunge. We were married for almost 10 years and we have been divorced for nine years. It is probably amazing to most people why we still have such a good relationship.

Anyway, I found my life improved considerably when I started attending school. I also have had an enormous success in just riding around my neighborhood and talking with all of my neighbors. I really don't worry about the ages and frequently I sit outside with the married women who are watching their children. I have almost become a permanent fixture in the seemingly daily coffee clutch and it is really enjoyable being able to talk with women. In my particular neighborhood, we have an add advantage of having an enormously large singles group which meets on a monthly basis. Interestingly enough, no one is in a wheelchair and it is easy to find people to talk with and possibly develop further relationships. I know much of this is not feasible for you, but I suggest you just try getting out when you get an opportunity.

Billy

PS please excuse the errors. I am definitely having problems with my microphone today. I have not been able to get a gooseneck which will allow me to have affix the better quality microphone which I do have. I may end up purchasing a wireless microphone from knowbrainer.

Yes, I combine them and boil about ten minutes.  Wait for it to cool then bottle or irrigate.  Make sure you only get white distilled vinegar.  I have a problem with sediment in my urine, odor too.

Make the saline yourself too

Good luck

Do you boil the items together and then irrigate with the solution?

Hi

The ratio is 2 to 1 .  2 parts white distilled vinegar to 1 part saline.  I irrigate also and fill my urinal after used to combat smell

Boil together before using.  Making it yourself is much cheaper.

Good luck

I want to thank everyone for their input. I use a one to 10 bleach solution to clean my bed bags. The problem I am having is that my urine is so strong it is permeating through the bed bag I use on the side of my chair and through the freezer ziplock bag I have over the bed bag. It is also making its way through the fabric cover that I have are aesthetic purposes decided to use to cover my bed bags. The other night my brother notice the stoma (I have a suprapubic) had a horrible stench coming from it. I have had some improvement when not drinking any Mountain Dew and only a little bit of green tea in addition to my normal supply of water. I will try the acidic acid solution and let everyone know. Once again I really do appreciate the input, especially considering that I have continued to address this situation to ad nauseam.

PS no I do not plan on drinking the stuff.  :-)

I hope he did not want you to drink the stuff? Anyway, I have noticed that
if there is any bleach left over in a leg bag or bedside bag, it can smell
quite rank. I use one half bleach, one half water solution to clean my
bedside bag. I cath into a urinal and should there be a bit of bleach in
there left from cleaning, the smell is horrible.
The number of UTI's I have had has dwindle to just about nil since storeing
my used catheters, I self cath, in a very mild bleach/water solution. Then
boil for 20 minutes, air dry for 24 hours and then put in a ziplock--un
zipped, to use again.
When I do get a bad uti, it will smell strong. I have not had a problem
with consistant odor tho.
