Stacy here's a great site and some contacts and some lawyers you should be talking to.
They already have a class action lawsuit with Paratransit fo r not picking up or picking you up late or several other complaints they have by others with disabilities and you should call them and find out more.
Click on the first link to learn about the class action.

I'll be OK working on this. I will figure it out. I just hate all the fighting I have to do to get something. UGH! I'll do it though.

Stacy:
This makes me want to take a road trip and sit at someone's door until they provide what you need. ARGHGHGHGH..it takes me back to the times I fought OSU disability services for a damn accessible bathroom in more than a few buildings on campus. They actually had the nerve to tell me they didn't have the money !!!! The Ohio State University!!!!! this was pre-ADA. I had to go out of my way to find an accessible bathroom, between classes. Now I'm paying for that with tendonitis, carpal tunnel, and shot elbows. Do I sound bitter? Not many people understand that simply saying "I'm sorry, I know it's not right, or fair" makes a BIG difference. That above all else is what pisses me off. Businesses and, bureaucracies aren't willing to simply acknowledge the discrimination of it all.
BTW, did you see that Friendship Heights, MD won recognition by Natl Org on Disability for one of the Most accessible cities? Ironic isn't it.

Yes I have a van. I wrote all the issues with that in another post. I have to wait for a driving instructor b/c the one that I had that told me to call when I was approved by the DMV is on medical leave and I have to wait until April because the woman that took over his cases has a full load of her own. Im waiting for my Dad to get here to pay the mechanic so I can get my van. Vocational rehab will give me some money for the van but the waiver program is going to have to eat most of the cost. The mechanic that is approved by the waiver is not a company that vocational rehab uses to they have to apply to be a client of theirs which takes a couple of weeks. I can go on and on River. Voc rehab does pay for transportation but only if it's school or work. It's up to me for everything else. I don't care who is paying, it is wrong how I am treated. The only thing is, my state rep is also on the board of the tri-county council who controls the transit so I am assuming he knows about the cost. I'm not even considered door to door. I'm curb to curb. If I am not on the curb, I get left. There are some door to door, but I have forgotten to find out the difference. I can't hear crap from inside my house is my only issue with that. I don't know when they get to my house b/c I can't hear them beep. Believe me I am furious about what is going on. I'm going to contact ADAPT this week and see what can happen here. I feel like a minority the way that I am treated and discrimination at that./x-tad-bigger>/color>
