I’m both I push when I can but go power when I have 2. I’m pushin about 50% or more a week :)
Stacy I got this quickie2 damn near immediately after rehab or it was my 1st chair I’m totally comfortable in it. Its like some old jeans just feel great. My balance is a lot better and I know that rigid chairs are easier 2 push so I’m ready 2 try 1.

Wow, you make 3k more than I do just in disability. I should have claimed more tips waiting tables. I still don't blame you. I'm not sure if I'd be allowed to keep my benefits. With what I'll be doing I'm probably going to make too much. At least I hope to make a good amount. My degree will be in social work with psychology minor. I might do a double major. I have to see b/c I might need more credits and if I do then double major it is. Depending on city, type or work, etc.. social workers make between 25k and 47k a year. I am not knocking anyone for sticking with disability. I don't know what lies on the road ahead of me. It's still a couple of years off. I'll just have to see. I'd like to build up on my benefits so if something happens to me it will be more than what I get now. I hope to buy a house one day and I am sure my cost of living will be a bit more. I'm not going to go crazy but I want more for myself than this. I barely get buy as it is and some months don't make it at all. I'd love to get a part time job but in order to get help from DORS I have to go to school full time and there is no way I can do both.
I'm getting some pretty tough arms though pushing through the campus. I have 15 mins inbetween classes a couple of days and the classes are kinda far apart. I push my ass off the first half then start to run out of gas. A couple of more weeks, it'll be nothing then I'll be getting all buff. LOL.

Stacyyyy...more power to ya, baby!! Every situation is different, and i thought like you for many years, but finally decided, i don't want to lose my benefits...just add to them. My hands aren't good, so there's few jobs i can do...i got a degree in Mass Communications from USF...i went to school for damn near 10 yrs, but found it very hard to fit in jobs where i could use my degree. So, the part-time job became my avenue....i'm a pushing quad, and it's a whole different world than a power chair quad, but i love it....it keeps me strong n healthy, i think!!
Anyway, i wish you luck...school is a major btch, and takes determination.
