Hmmmm, how to make this short :-)I first liked my primary care physician (internist) when I chose him 2+ yrs ago. A two-physician office with one nurse. He has a great bedside manner/personality and is open knowing I know my body best. I never have to wait. Everyone knows everyone - homey atmosphere. He lets me keep a broad spectrum antibiodic on hand in case I get one of my classic quick-fever-come-on when a UTI flares up.He is responsible for continuing my orders that I, verily, need ongoing home care. When there's been issues between myself and the agency HE needs to be my advocate. I've told him this in person & in writing when it seems the agency is ganging up on me. Yet he turns ball-less when he needs to be on my side! Long story there but one example.Had it now!Starting in December I began having a bacteria I've never had before in my 25-yr-history (Proteaus Mirabilis - a bad bug). At first he wasn't going to treat it!I finished my dose and ummm two weeks I think it was .. I had bad abdominal pain. I figured that the dosage didn't get it all so he put me on another dose. It's a broad-spectrum cephlosporin. All symptoms diminish when I'm on it.I finished that dose 12 days ago or Jan 31st. A week later (this past Monday) my nurse came to change my catheter. She took a urine sample to make sure this time the proteaus was gone. 24 hrs after the change I was shaking like a leaf. Of course at 8PM at night. I took a Cipro and Tylenol to rid myself of the fever. The next day (just this past Wednesday) I called the Dr's office and the nurse (whom I've come to hate) said they had the preliminary results from Monday's sample. Ok... well???By this time I'm having bad abdominal pain but at the mercy of the final report. Keep in mind .. results of a culture and sensitivities is no more than 3 days unless microbiology has changed in the last 50 yrs!I waited all day Wednesday-nothing. On Thursday the nurse tells me at 3PM that she talked to the lab and the report will be faxed to her in an hour or two. Nothing. She glibly tells me she'll try back in the morning. As I lay there in pain.Yesterday ... all morning no call. At 11:45 (just b4 the go to lunch) I call. I tell her I'm in real pain, it's FRIDAY and can the Dr put me on the drug I was on? She says she'll catch him before lunch and call me back. Nothing.I called my agency nurse to please call and talk to THE DR. I awaited calls all day. At 5:10 pm the nurse calls saying they called the drug in. GODDDDDDDDDDDDDD. My husband has to traipse thru traffic before the pharmacy closes at 7PM to get me on it.I've had it with their game playing! The damn lab sent them only another preliminary yesterday. They probably lost the damn specimen. Going to urgent care does nothing since a culture is needed -- Another 3 days. This antibiodic helped right away. But this is its 3rd recurrence meaning it has encapsulated itself in my bladder wall possibly.I'm spending the day looking for another Dr! Who looks after my best interest. I've had bad luck with urologists and can't Dr hop & shop since Medicare pays only 80% and we can't afford what AZ wants for a Medicare co-insurance.Is any one else up to their limit with their Dr??? My Dr's office gave me a clear message!Lori
