Hi Gina, There are  several questions that come to mind here.  Have you just begun drawing your own social security ? Once a adult receives approval and they are going to being drawing (money that is based on their work history  "credit" ), then a application for any children can then be processed.  Where and whomever takes care of that child is where the money goes, and they are responsible for accountability of those funds. If the parents are divorced or a single parent then it is whoever is guardian.  At least these were the rules as i understood them 3 years back.  Hope this helps/   Kathy in Mississippi
