Greg,      You are talking about the stainless steel metal sling, correct?  I have that sling also but I cannot use it because of the exact same problem that you describe.  I ended up getting the nylon sling, which works just great.  I had to Sure Hands representative here at my house to see if we had the metal sling adjusted properly and he could not even get it to work.  He told me it was because of the pants I was wearing well, I tried it with no pants on and I had the same results.  If you are able to use this sling by yourself and your going to have to try everything that you can think of to make it work.  He might want to try to put some foam pads on the metal leg rests.  If you are unable to get yourself into this sling by yourself then I strongly recommend the nylon sling.  It is so easy to use, you do not even have to move your armrest's on your wheelchair.  Good luck!   Jim
