Actually, people that use manual chairs are wider than people that use power chairs because you sit down between the wheels on manual chairs and on power chairs you sit on top of the rear wheels. I have had very little troubles negotiating the stores here in Duluth in my power chair but I know I would have a lot of trouble with my manual chair because it is so much wider.

i think the turning radius is waaay bigger in a power chair plus theyre more difficult to control. those 2 factors seem to cause more difficulty than the width, in my opinion.
