thanks on the cudos - i got bored at work and was working on an online
parts ordering system at the time - that was my o.j.t.
the Ghost procedure is an off-line way to make a snapshot of any disk or
partition you choose into a binary file on another disk. you boot up in
DOS and call up Ghost. the menus are pretty straight forward, "partition
to image" or "image to partition". i have used it successfully for years
and if ever my machine doesn't work properly, i just restore it from an image i
made when it was clean. i store everything on an externally connected usb
drive which i leave disconnected most of the time. i also have my primary
working drive set to E: instead of C: which seems to fool a lot of virii and
hacks. my C: drive is loaded and present but not used. serves as a
dead decoy for the pirates.
make a bootable floppy and copy ghost.exe onto it. boot on floppy and
run ghost. you'll love it.
