Ya, Dan, I never dreamed something worse than my 15 months in the hospital (I was critical) post-injury could happen.  Worse yet, looking back & objectively seeing a Dr wanted a cadaver and I was prime, or primed, to be in line.
 
Yep, you're right... unless one is losin more movement or sensation than they have then they frown to operate.  I was so desperate with bucking, exorcist-like extensor spasms that I went ahead.
 
No guarantees with any surgery these days and often the results are worse.
 
The amitriptyline (elavil) WILL help you sleep!

   Thanks for the information Stephanie and Lori. Wow Lori..you have really been thru it girl ! I  will ask my Doctor if I can try Amitryptiline this gives me some hope because when I have the bad pain I can't get any sleep at night. A neurologist told me they hate to operate now for this unless the person begins to lose the movement they still have.
