I began having a UTI in November w/ Proteus bacteria being the culprit.
This is not a more friendly bacteria that commonly colonizes in the bladder like E-coli, Strep B, etc.
It's a pathogen and microbiologists (like my husband) say there are BIG 4 that you don't take lightly. Proteus being one.
It does respond to the appropriate antibiodics but keeps coming right back. Or staying dormant in my bladder.
I finally , along w/ Dr, took a more radical 3-week antibiodic approach.
It's still there in my culture!
Anyone else keep track of their bugs? In my 25 yrs I have not had proteus.
