someone who is brain damaged is not being feed BUT IS being given morphine to relieve her pain. If she was "brain dead" as some have suggested then how would she be feeling pain? I know Terri's cousin who accompanied Michael Shaivo as he spent 4
years attempting rehabilitation. Then 4 years trying quietly to do what is
being done now. He tried to follow Terri's wishes but was thwarted by the
parents and the courts. I do agree that he broke his wedding vows,
but he has consistently attempted to do what Terri wished for
medically.
He had her at 5 of the most prestigious rehabs in the U.S. and used up the
malpractice settlement before it was received. If there had been no
settlement he would've been out $1.5 million, instead of only $750k.
I don't know how many of you have witnessed a "natural" death of a brain
dead person, but it is most often far from peaceful. The morphine is more
for those with her. The involuntary spasms can get very violent and she
could bite her tongue during one and produce a lot of blood. I watched my
braindead dad start spasming and had the nurse increase the morphine
drip. Trust me, it's not a pretty sight.
