And, in the Mormon faith there were three witnesses that Joseph Smith (founder of the LDS Church) translated mysterious plates brought to him by an angel (alledgedly) and made them into The Book of Mormon.
And there were many "witnesses" supposedly to seeing the resurrected Christ.
So many more examples but, in any case, the winners write history.
