Hi Dianna,
Around 1987-88 I was having the abdominal discomfort that many here
have recently described and it stems from the spine rather than the
abdomen. I didn't know that then and had abdominal test after
test. And decided to see if my bladder was a culprit.
So I had a cystoscopy done in a urologist's office. He numbed
my bladder and removed numerous stones (that never helped my pain
BTW). The procedure in the office went great. I was wide
awake. He removed my foley, swished out stones in a 45 minute time
period, then put in a new foley. No problemo.
THEN ... EVERY DAY for a whole week ... when I went to get out of
my chair to go to bed ... the second I laid back ... OMIGOD! I thought
my head was going to blow off. The worst case of AD hitherto and
since. I couldn't get my hopital bed elevated fast enough to alleviate
the pressure. My ex even sat my torso up by pulling me
forward. It eventually subsided but I had to lay back in tiny
increments until flat for bedtime.
I was fine all day but lying back musta triggered something ...
rushing blood too fast to my head or whatnot. This went on for a
week and then I was ok. But I coulda had a stroke or hemmorage or
something. I'd had severe AD before with bowel impaction soon
after my injury and still in the hospital and that was bad enough but
this other nearly killed me.
I assume the bladder anesthetic wore off and my bladder didn't like
that.
Another female member here (complete quad) had one done too but she
was without complications.
I'm unwilling to have it done again.
Unsure why you're getting an "unkown address" but I'll get that on
occasion too with others.
Lori

Lori,
Why do you say it nearly killed you? The reason I ask is because I
had one once, although it's a simple procedure, they insisted on
knocking me out so that they could control my blood pressure in case of
