I agree totally with Dana.

I saw my parents (who owned their own business work 12+ hour days) fall into the trap
of letting some relatives do this over & over.  Stayed till 2AM KNOWING my parent's
situation.  Just plain rude if ya ask me.

My sister & husband now do the same thing.  Unwanted relatives stop in RIGHT AT
DINNER WITHOUT CALLING FIRST.  They've allowed this for over a decade so, ask Dr Phil says ...
"You teach people how to treat you."

I have church company over some late mornings but I *make it clear* that I have to go
eat/take meds, etc and limit their visit to 90 minutes or less.

Thats a tough one--asking visitors to leave.  Sometimes you just have to get
assertive.  They probably had no idea you missed supper.  Maybe asking one
of them to help you get it out of the fridge or whatever will trigger them
to remember you need to eat!   That should also make them leave!  I am on a
schedule too, and if I don't eat at certain times my blood sugar "can" fall.
I always make sure I eat before going to bed.

It doesn't bother me quite so much if I am out with friends, but when in my
apartment, it 'is' harder to keep your mind off of it, especially just
sitting or even watching a movie.  I agree, it is 'hard' on us to have
company for a length of time.
Try and get their minds off of whatever 'they' are doing and hopefully will
take a hint like asking them to get your pills, or supper, or a drink of
water.

Be assertive but be nice about it.  They should understand.  Make sure you
make it clear you want to continue seeing them, maybe even make another
date, or follow up a few days later to set a date.  On the days they stay
too long, boy does that bed feel good!                    take care,

Dana
