Yeah, legally you owe
them the $. It sucks that they were so unprofessional and dis-organized
about collecting it, but you are in possession of something that at this point
you haven't paid for and they have. If I were you I'd be very irritated
too. I went shopping in January at a boutique in the mall. The store
never charged my debit card at all for the purchase (which I never noticed,
because I don't keep very close track of my accounts.) Then, in late March, they
charge my check card $200. It bounced, because I was completely not
expecting the charge, and had no idea it hadn't been charged in the first
place. I tried to dispute the charges with my card, because I thought it
was ridiculous for a company to put a charge like this through so many months
later. They usually post the same day! It was clearly some kind of big
oversight on their part, but the bank sided with them (not too surprising when
you think about it.) I still had their merchandise and hadn't paid for it.
In your case,
I'd be far more annoyed, because it's a bigger ticket item, and you
took pro-active action TWICE to try to get the situation rectified. I'd be
really steaming mad. But, it doesn't change the fact that you owe them the
$. From: Liz [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, April 29, 2005 6:02 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [email protected] Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] need an opinion You owe them the money.
