Title: Blind / chair woes
I can’t wait till next year when I can get a new power chair. This one I got now has really turned me from thinking of Invacare. I have a Ranger X I really wasn’t using that much because if I wasn’t going to be riding the bus or going anywhere I’d use my manual chair. The chair is 4 yrs old I’ve replaced motors twice and gearboxes once already. The company picked my chair up the week off spring break. I got it back a week after they said it would be ready. It was worse than it was when they took it to the shop. They came back got my chair again said they had to order motors it took over 2 weeks for them to get parts I’ve mi9ssed over 4 wks of school. Had 2 withdraw from 2 classes might barely pass the other 2 that had real understanding instructors. They replaced motors and gearboxes chair still isn’t right I told them after I took my finals this week that they could come back and get this chair again. I know that Medicaids  putting thousands into this chair almost each time that they come and get it. They changed motors and gearboxes but I guess they didn’t check it afterwards to see if it was right. When you put a new engine in your car you run it afterwards to see if it’s ok. They put new motors in and and assume that it’s all good because they replaced the motors and gearboxes. New motors are slower and one is sticking. I’m really thinking about going with a different chair company. I was thinking of Redmans standing chair. But after reading comments on Redman’s I’m going 2 have 2 look into some other manufacturers of standing power chairs. Because I gotta go standing on next model. :)

Nobody wants to hear about how good swedish made wheelchairs are. Redman is true crap and if it werent for insurance kickbacks theyd be out of business. While I'm a medicaid/medicare user, I still have to insist on a major brand chair with a good parts pipeline. If you must buy an american wheelchair, at least get one you can get serviced. And as soon as they say you can get a new chair,,get it. keep your old chair as backup while your new one is getting repaired and dont forget to be sure your old chair runs good when you replace it.
