I will be losing my insurance pretty soon, it's a state high risk insurance
and I no longer am there. I get Medicare in Aug. AZ dose not have a "high
risk insurance" for those with a pre-injury. 30 states do, but not AZ. The
state and my city seem to have some good programs if you have no money.
That's great, but it's no help for me. They should learn that a little help
now could save a lot later. They basically are encouraging my to spend all
my money so I can get service.
I'm willing to buy insurance, I pay $550 a month now. I must admit, my
insurance has been great, they bought me a ceiling lift, new chairs,
including a top-line Permobil, but I loose it soon. I will have to get by on
Medicare and what ever the supplemental covers. I worry it wont cover
enough. It will save me lots of money not having to buy my insurance. What
really sucks is I could have had that and the SS disability 5 years ago, but
just found out about it last year.

>From my experience, Medicare pays for "hospital" stays and most 'stuff'youme)get while in the hospital. They will pay for hosp.beds (I got a 'fully' electric chair by writing a letter and a former attendant wrote a letter saying she had to quit because with a bed so low she could not transferweekThey will pay for a 'nurse' who can come once a day if there is a medical reason --changing dressing, IV's etc. I have a nurse who comes once awillthat mecicare pays for.
Medicaid pays for everything else--things in the hospital that Medicareworksnot, homemakers, attendant care-from agencies- and of course the biggest thing--meds. Medicare will not pay for meds.
I don't know about the supplemental stuff. If you want control of whofor you, and your insurance pays for it--stay with your insurance withIf
Medicare as your primary. The agencies are the pits to work with and many
times they will leave you in bed, will comes hours later than they say,you are not able to "watch" them while they are working, agency peoplewilldo as little as they can! I know not "all" do, but the majority do. Evenit.
if you leave notes around to put things here or there, they will ignoreAnd if they think you are too much work, that homemaker will complain toat
their supervisor and they will send someone else. It works the other way
too--if you find someone you like, you can call the schedular and say you
like so and so, can she be here all the time. Here, they are pretty goodthat--it might be because if they send someone I do 'not' like, they hear about it! BG!
