Id be miserable by 12 am if i couldn't recline. The recline mechanism can have a few glitches, but so can air conditioning on your car. The trouble with American made chairs is that they tend to use ten year old technology. This means you don't have to worry that the chair is to sophisticated. Talk to the people that fix the chairs if you can. These things aren't rocket science. In most cases, if they don't want you to open control boxes it is because it hides old style circuit boards and analog potentiometers. The up side to this "junk" is that if it should fail, you can get it fixed. I have seen electro-mechanical actuators for this wheelchair being sold as a servo for a satellite antenna on ebay.

Tilt- in the Tilt-n-space system Quickie uses, your body tilts in the
sitting position but doesn't recline (which means the back going down).
Recline adaptions can really increase size and weight a lot, the tilt
in space is only 2" taller, no wider, and doesn't add a lot of weight.
Typicaly if you don't need recline, don't get it, your chair will
likely spend less time in the repair shop. Recliners have more wires,
motors, and moving parts.
