John,
I guess it was your phrase - I do not, however, look at it as anything more than an effect of depression. - that I find unusual. That seems to simplify a pretty complex and final act of desparation into a simple effect. I guess we all see things differently.

Dear Dave,I didn't mean to sound like I condoned suicide. I don't. I do not, however, look at it as anything more than an effect of depression. Most of us get through our depression and go on. Some of my friends didn't make it. I still love them. Some didn't make it through infections. I hate the loss.johnIn a message dated 7/16/2005 10:06:35 P.M. [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:Good post! I think you stepped in a minefield because we each have experienced depression. We are all different in many ways, including how we deal with depression. I have known a lot of folks that couldn't deal and have chosen to end their problems. Trouble with that is they ended everything. I'm not afraid of dying. I don't give advice on suicide because I've only decided that I want to live today. Some days that decision gets clouded by depression. I hope you let these bad feelings go and stay with us. But, I will never lower my opinion of any one on this list because they succumbed to depression. I look at depression in the same way I view UTI's. They can be fatal and I sure hope there is a better life awaiting us all.If you do take that route please get your affairs in order and don't leave trivial notes blaming others. The world is aware of what you did and why you did it. If you mess up you will do time in a psych center and it won't be fun, so don't mix up a suicide attempt with a cry for help. Do not set up some elaborate event where some poor schmuck kills you accidentally. They don't deserve that on their conscience.john
