I get straight cathed anywhere from 6 to 10 hours apart during the day while out of bed and every 2 to 3 hours at night when in bed. It comes out to 4 to 5 times in a 24 hour period. Have been doing this for 16 years. I've only had 1 UTI about 12 years ago. I do take 1000mg of vitamin C 3 times a day and mainly just drink water, and not even large amounts, just about 6 to 7 glasses a day.

I have it changed once a month or so. With regular cathing or indwelling you will usually get infections, I think the men who have a condom cath do the best on avoiding infections.
