Hey Greg,
Do you remember the not-so-long-ago conversation between myself
& Dave K. on MediCARE and home health care
and the hell I've been through EVER SINCE Medicare changed its
payment system TO the agencies in 1999?
I'll try to find the email (I keep all sent emails). I also
became good friends/acquaintence by phone with the Medicare
Ombudsman
to try to DO something abt this silent epidemic. I can FWD
Vmy emails to her to you as well. Her hands are tied to
because Medicare has no teeth in making sure guidelines are met FOR
ALL eligible patients.
They leave it to the state and the state doesn't do squat.
After 9 years of receiving AIDE help from Medicare home health
agencies ... I was recently discharged from mine on the basis that "they
can't find aides" when the truth is they WON'T because it NOW cuts into
their profit margin. TOTALLY DISCRIMINATORY.
I've written to everyone everywhere and even to 60 minutes,
Dateline, MSNBC Investigates, etc but no responses yet.
I'm now hiring for 'basic necessities' and it's costing abt
$450/month. And, no, I don't qualify for long term care, waivers
or any other low-income help because I'm LIVING A MORAL LIFE - meaning
I'm married and a lifelong attempt to save & invest has me
screwed!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Home Care
What does it take to qualify to get
insurance to cover home care from an agency?
I know all insurances are different, but
how about Medicare?
My insurance covers home care for nursing
needs, but not just to get dressed and into a wheelchair. But I wonder
if they come out to cath or something, if they will get me dressed and
up while they are here. I'm trying to get
weekend care, but can't do my bowel care and change my SP cach twice a
day.
Any ideas on things I might be able to say
I need "Home Care" for?
thx,
