I worked for an ILC for 7 yrs and a girl who was hired the same time as me became somewhat of a
"Boss's Pet."  She was never caught but I'm fairly sure she took taxi-cabs to 'so called clients' when she
really used it for her own transport and putting it on the ILC account.

I also used to see her get "real chummy" with "clients" and then have them run errands for her ... like
picking up prescriptions for her or this or that.

Not that it matters but her disability was "Brittle Bone" disease known as Osteogenesis Imperfecta.
The "Imperfecta" part suited her character ... lol.

I'm sure she got away with a ton of things but 'proving it' then was difficult with her being the boss' pet!

The story below is only a small scale example of how much employers OF ANYONE get bilked or
milked each month or year!

MERRILLVILLE ‹ A paraplegic man who worked as a counselor for a Merrillville
not-for-profit agency that assists disabled Northwest Indiana residents has
been accused of bilking his employer.

Stevie A. Edwards, 38, of Gary has been charged through Merrillville Town
Court with conversion after allegedly renting vehicles on four different
occasions and charging the rentals to his employer, Everybody Counts Center
for Independent Living, without authorization.

Edwards rented the vehicles from Enterprise Rent-A-Car on four different
dates in either late May or early June and charged them to the account of
Everybody Counts, where Edwards worked as counselor advocate.

³The staff and board of directors of Everybody Counts are saddened by Mr.
Edwards¹ actions, for which he must be held accountable,² Everybody Counts
executive director Teresa Torres said in a statement. ³The decision to file
formal charges was difficult, but unavoidable under the circumstances, even
if the matter became public.²

The Class A misdemeanor charge carries a sentence of up to one year in jail.

Merrillville police have issued a warrant for Edwards¹ arrest, Detective
Donald Toth said.

Edwards is a former four-sport athlete at Bishop Noll. In 1992, he was shot
in the back in Indianapolis, resulting in a severed spinal cord.

³Equality for people with disabilities means that they must be afforded

the same rights and

responsibilities as everyone else, the same opportunity to succeed and
fail,² Torres said.

³Although his work as a peer counselor and advocate for people with
disabilities was outstanding, Mr. Edwards

made some unfortunate personal choices.²
