There is no 'perfect place' for weather although New Mexico is pretty close.
Ya, my husband has said the same thing abt heat being the #1 killer but I'd like
to know where. We've lived in Tucson for 5 yrs and the media LOVES
reporting things like that ... yet ya never hear of it.
I can't sweat so heat is dangerous for me IF I don't understand my limit. Greg
moved to Phoenix (hotter there!) and loves it.
I recall living in NY and hearing of all those dying of freezing to death in NYC.
Anyway ... wherever I've lived ... it's been where there are no hurricanes, no
tornados, no earthquakes or anything close.
WE wouldn't move to Fl, Louisianna, San Francisco, Minnesota, Montana,
North or South Dakota, etc on a bet! And my husband COULD have taken a
job most anywhere.
His Dad (a Navy Lt) lived all over the world and finally settled down in Santa Fe
NM to raise a family and always said .... "I haven't found a place that can beat this weather."
Of course no one can afford to live there NOW but, weatherwise, it's nice.
At 7000 feet though ... too cold for me! Despite rarely getting snow. And if it
does snow it doesn't stick or last more than 24 hrs.
We're looking to move to Albuquerque and are headed there the last of this month.
It's at 4000 feet so it's nice.

Define risky for me. Pop quiz. Q: On average, what weather related phenomenon kills the most people in the United States each year? A: Heat. Hmm...anyone here live where it's ridiculously hot?

Wait till a tidal wave hits L.A.!!! And/or a quake in Calif is quite overdue...
especially along the fault line. The fault line (and it's previous destruction)
hasn't stopped folks from risky living.
