We hung a hummingbird feeder inside our portico in the spring where we enjoy sitting & chatting.

We noticed they were active at our Mesquite trees so thought they might like food especially for them!

It's been too hot to sit there all summer so we just put up a new one (the other was turned a brownish
color on the see-through plastic from the hot desert sun) a few days ago and see they are as active
as ever :-)

For those interested ..... they have cute feeders at Wal-mart for $3.29.  Food in jug separate.

I love watching the lizards too Greg!  We have had a big guy out back this past year (most are small).

Our Golden loves watching all critters ... no capturing despite her being a sporting breed!

Subject: [QUAD-L] Reading with pets

Today I spent well over an hour sitting outside reading with a new friend, a Praying Mantis. He landed on a chair at the table, then my helper set it on my lap. He just walked up my side at sat on my shoulder for a long time. I finely had to brush him away so I could go back inside.
Then I looked them up online and the first photo I saw was one that quickly struck out and caught a humming bird and ate it's innards. Yuck..
But they are so cool looking. We get quite a few of the 3-4 inch size, but only once got a 5-6 inch one. I hope they don't eat lizards, I love to go out and watch the lizards run around our brick wall fence. We have about 3-5 lizards laying/holding on the side of the fence wall at any given time.
I love atracting nature to our yard, but had to stop the bird feeders cause our dog caught a few birds...
Greg
