As Mark said, it's a very good idea and you can get the connections at any auto store. You may need to get a little bit of extra wire. So, it'll reach where you want to place it.
I had my father run one on my chair from one of the batteries. He made a bracket that he bolted it to under my seat of the chair.
Best bet is to get one with a rubber cap to cover the inlet (female) part of the socket. This is good for when you're out in the rain or so the damp weather won't screw up the connection.
