Hello Everyone
I have a question about caregiving issues and am hoping that somebody can
give me some advice, just personal advice.
About four or five years ago I started using a caregiving agency. About two
years ago I moved into my own place and I wanted to use one of the caregivers
privately. They told me that I could buy out the caregivers contract for $3000
and use them privately. I ended up staying with the agency but recently got
somebody to work on weekends and would like to pay my morning caregiver
privately and get rid of the agency. When I called them to ask them about their
policy the lady told me she would have to look at my file and call me back, if
it is a company policy why does she have to look at my file first? She called me
back about an hour later and told me it would cost me $7,500, that is justly
ridiculous. I paid the agency $24 an hour but they only pay the caregivers $8 an
hour.
My question is, and I know every state is different, is there a way to get
around having to pay off the agency that much? $3000 I could afford because I
would save a lot if I could hire this person privately at $7,500 is just too
much to ask.
Take care and
play nice Tammie Lou
