Absolutely, my chair didn't move an inch.

Here is a good reason to use lock-downs: www.quadlist.com/temp/wreck.htm

I was driving at the time a car ran a red light and t-boned me at 45-50mph.  Only due to my lock-down and driving harness did I come away with only a bruise on my thigh and head.

Please, please get fitted with a lock-down system.

I'm lost on tipping forward or backwards, I've never had that problem.
I mean you have 2 wheels in front of the mid wheel and 2 wheels behind you that are in constant contact of the ground  so how would you tip.
Have you looked at the Frontier?
You'd have to hit a wall to tip forward and tipping backwards impossible.

When I say "unstable" I do not mean driving the wheelchair, I mean driving my van.  The tippiness fore and aft makes it extremely difficult to drive smoothly and safely.
