Hi, Many of us in here have a syrinx , yes it does cause more pain and nerve damage, but while a mri can tell if you have it--- it don't help much to find out, because most doctors will not perform an operation UNLESS you are loosing more movement or function of your arms or etc. Just trying to let you know that in case you were not aware of that .The neuro doctors informed me that an operation for a syrinx is  very serious and dangerous as Lori and John --2 members on this list have had it done are very aware of that fact also.                                                                                                Dan c-6  8.5 yrs. post
