Side-by-side comparison of the House and Senate Medicaid Reconciliation Proposals

Last Thursday, the Senate approved a budget that contains $10 billion in Medicaid cuts. Thanks to the efforts of advocates like you, however, the Senate’s Medicaid cuts will not harm Medicaid recipients. Given the current political climate, this is a great accomplishment that wouldn’t have happened without your hard work.

Now the budget reconciliation process moves to the House. This week, the House will vote on a budget containing $11 billion in Medicaid cuts which, unlike the Senate’s version, would greatly harm Medicaid recipients. The House’s cuts would come mostly in the form of cost-sharing and premiums that would hurt recipients and could adversely affect access to the program for low-income Americans. The vote on the House version of the budget will probably happen this Thursday, November 10th.

Congress needs to hear from you. Call your Representative and tell him or her to vote against a budget that will harm the most vulnerable Americans, including those who rely on Medicaid:

After your call, follow up on your call with an e-mail. This vote will be very difficult for many House members—especially moderates. Advocates from all over the country are bombarding Congress with calls and e-mails telling members not to vote for a budget that would cut critical domestic programs and harm the environment. Please join them and tell your Representative to vote against a budget that would harm Medicaid recipients:

After your call, follow up on your call with an e-mail, then forward this message to everyone you know. We need as many people as possible to call or e-mail their members of Congress before this crucial vote.

As always, thank you for all your hard work!
