Never tried to stop taking them but my spasms get harder and longer if I miss a couple of sets. From what I understand Medicaid will be turning ALL meds over to the Medicare Plan D on Jan. 01, 2006 and Medicare will be stopping covering all Benzodiazepines family meds. I heard they think too many people use these as "relaxers" so they won't cover any of them. I think they should look at it on a case-by-case so those that use them for different reasons will still be able to get them, but I think it is an all or nothing thing with Medicare. I'd talk to your case worker because you don't want to be cut cold turkey.

have you ever tried to stop taking Valium? I've been taking it for about 10 years for spasms, does the job well, it worked a lot better than baclofen for me. Only downside, if I miss a dose the withdrawal effects start pretty quick and are very unpleasant. Don't know what I would do if Medicaid stopped paying for it.

It doesn't look like Medicare will be covering it with their Plan D program, so I'm not sure what I'll be doing after Jan. 01, 2006. I'll be looking at other med options but may end-up continue using it and paying for it out-of-pocket.With Love,
