I understand that one has to "choose" a Part D plan from a list of companies.
I'm currentyly going through that list & need to call each company to see who has
the better options for me.
I was going to go with a MEDICARE ADVANTAGE (HMO) PLAN that Greg told me abt
for those of us on MediCARE and not MediCAID. They are great for helping w/ Dr
visits, hospitals, etc AND PART D INCLUDED!
The catch FOR ME? They have a clause by which certain things (like home care)
need PRIOR APPROVAL. Guess what? They won't approve it!
Pisses me off cuz these plans say "we cover all that Medicare does". But there ARE
a few glitches that they WON'T pat for. Grrrrrrrrrr.
So, because I need the lil home care TRADITIONAL MEDICARE covers 100% .. I need to stay
with it.
But I STILL need to sign up for a prescription Part D plan.

Hi Julie,
I'm sorry but I didn't see that you were on Medicaid until I sent the Medicare Link. You should have received the info from the state on what Plan they will be using so you won't have to search for a Plan, but the Formulary Finder will allow you to see what meds a Plan will cover.
Good luck and stay strong.

Is there a way to find out what meds will or will not be covered under Medicare's Plan D program? I'm on Medicaid my case manger told me today that Plan D is what I'll be switched to Jan. 1st. She said that I'll pay $1.00 per prescription for generic and $3.00 for non-generic. Has anyone heard this also?
