Hi Dan,

It'll be hard as hell getting rid of AOL.  It embeds things deep inside folk's PCs
and wreaks havoc like a worm.

And it'd hard to discontinue their service.  They'll keep charging your credit card
or you and not let up.

BE SURE THEY ARE HISTORY by confirm receipt letter or however you decide BEFORE
switching.

So many people I know have hororr stories dropping AOL.

Yes, DSL is faster than dial-up but not "terrific."

Don't get Earthlink - they do a sneaky little number by advertising "high speed ..." but
CAP people at 56K <--- not as fast as "they advertise."  Many people aren't up on things
to see this truth ... we found out the hard way 5 yrs ago by using them.  And being computer
savvy enough to see their trickery.  Although it's not really EARTHLINK themselves aren't the real culprit..
it's the ISPs in the area.

We use cable but we do so because of all we need it for (the speed to d/l).

My husband's relatives are in the process of dropping AOL and going to QWest DHL.  That
will serve their needs.  They WERE going to go cable but they don't use the PC enough to
warrant getting it.

I have been having a lot of trouble with my AOL dial up service, I can get yahoo DSL for about the same price for 6 months then about 10 bucks more for the 2nd 6 months. I have never had any other service other than AOL----Do any of you have or like sbc-yahoo DSL ? Also is DSL really faster than dial up ?  thanks for your input on this.
